Killing weeds in water
Since the loss of approval of dichlobenil, controlling aquatic weeds has become a major challenge.
Aquatically approved glyphosate products (such as Roundup Pro Biactive, Asteroid and Kernel) will only work on weeds if the water level can be lowered to expose them - not often a very practical method, although some will resort to it.
However if weeds are in a very dense matt and there is emerged leaf, or indeed the water level could be reduced to expose more of the plant, then it is possible that Roundup Pro Biactive would have some effect.

Aquatic use means spraying in, on or near water, which can be open or closed (i.e. river or pond)
Using herbicides in aquatic applications
All aquatic use herbicides require Environment Agency approval; contact your local EA office before work begins. The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) enforces strict rules on the use of herbicides in aquatic areas.
Controlling aquatic weeds / Pond weed control
Roundup Pro Biactive is a professional strength glyphosate which provides long term control of aquatic weeds. It controls both emergent and floating weeds.
Emergent weeds – bulrush, common reed, creeping bent, reed canary grass, reed sweet grass, sedges, soft rush, watercress and whorlgrass
Floating weeds – white water lily, yellow water lily
When Roundup Pro Biactive is used as directed there is little risk to spray operators, wildlife or the environment. It may be used in waters stocked with fish (if used in accordance with the recommendations shown on the product label). Use a knapsack sprayer or weedwiper to apply.
