There are countless different options available on the market. All of them claim to outdo their competitors, but which ones really work? Based on our own experience - as well as that of our customers - we’ve rounded up five of the most effective options currently available.
Choosing an industrial weed killer
The options detailed below are by no means the only hard-working weed killers out there. We offer a wide range of different industrial-strength formulations, all of which have proven themselves to be highly effective when used correctly - we don’t sell any products that don’t work!
So, although the following formulations are among our favourites, you may find others in our range that work just as well for you. And that’s an important point to touch on: choosing a weed killer is really all about selecting the product that’s most suitable for the application. In reality, all the products we offer have their own set of pros and cons - there’s no one-size-fits-all product that will outperform everything else in every given situation. Most of our total weed killers utilise the same principal active ingredient, after all - glyphosate.
The majority of our picks are total weedkillers, meaning they will work on all forms of green vegetation. This makes them ideal for controlling weeds growing through or around hard surfaces like gravel and paving - but it also means they need to be used with care if the weeds are near plants that you plan to keep. Containing 360g/l of glyphosate, in-line with the industry standard, Roundup ProActive is a tried and tested industrial formulation that packs a punch. Its patented blend of adjuvants allows it to work effectively within three weeks, even on the toughest and most resilient of weeds. Crucially, it’s also been classified as non-hazardous by COSHH, meaning it can be used in public spaces without issue.
Roundup ProVantage
ProVantage is Roundup’s most powerful total weed control formulation, containing 480g/l of glyphosate to deliver rapid results each and every time. If you have a particularly stubborn patch of weeds that you need gone, ProVantage is a safe bet.
Gallup Biograde
A direct competitor to Roundup ProActive, Gallup Biograde contains the same concentration of glyphosate and has proven itself to be just as effective. Used extensively by professionals across the UK, Biograde is also safe for humans and pets, and can be used safely on waterways.
Gallup Hi Aktiv
Gallup Hi Aktiv is one of the fastest-acting industrial formulations currently available, containing a particularly high concentration of glyphosate (490g/l). Despite this increased concentration, Hi Aktiv can still be used next to waterways, and has been classified as being safe for use in public spaces.
