Product Detail

By carrying out this soil analysis you will receive an Organic Matter % figure to meet point number 3 of the below requirements. You will also receive data on pH, elements in the soil, a physical analysis with your soil composition, Organic Carbon Stock, Soil Respiration, C:N Ratio, Microbial Biomass, Potentially Mineralisable Nitrogen and a Soil Assessment Score.

The SFI actions include SAM1 which requires and incentivizes the carrying out of a soil analysis and creation of a soil management plan in return for payment under the agreement.

Land that is eligible for this is as follows:

  • Arable land.
  • Permanent grassland.
  • Land used for perennial crops (such as fruit and flowers).

In order to complete the SAM1 action the following must be completed:

  1. Carry out a soil assessment across all land entered into the scheme.
  2. Produce a soil management plan for this land.
  3. Test the Soil Organic Matter (SOM) levels for all land entered within the last 5 years.

Elements analysed are:

  • Phosphate
  • Potassium
  • Magnesium
  • Calcium
  • Sulphur
  • Sodium
  • Manganese
  • Copper
  • Iron
  • Zinc
  • Molybdenum
  • Boron

How does a soil analysis work?

  • On placing your order we will send over a soil sample bag and addressed pre-paid envelope.
  • Take a number of soil samples from different areas of your plot, until the bag is half full.
  • Post back your soil to the laboratory for analysis.
  • Results are generally available in around 10 working days after posting to the laboratory.
  • If you would like your results interpreted by one of our FACTS qualified technical advisors, please get in touch via email or phone (0330 165 5568) to request this.

How to carry out a soil analysis:

  • Try to take samples from as many points in the area to be analysed.
  • Working in a W shape will give a good overall analysis of the area.
  • Make sure that you fill the bag until it's half full - if you don't have enough soil the laboratory will not be able to run the full tests.
  • Do not sample any soil within 3 - 5 days after being sprayed with pesticides or foliar nutrients.
* Always follow the Aftercare advice

After using BSE SOLVITA Soil Analysis – Suitable for Meeting SFI Scheme Requirements, follow all label recommendations, clean equipment thoroughly, and monitor the treated area to ensure the product has performed as expected. Do not sample any soil within 3 - 5 days after being sprayed with pesticides or foliar nutrients.

What is Broad Spectrum Extra SOLVITA Soil Analysis suitable for the SFI scheme used for?
This test includes SOLVITA soil respiration and organic matter results to meet SFI scheme requirements and support soil health planning.
How does a soil test work?
Once you place your order we send a sample bag and prepaid envelope, you take small samples from across your plot until the bag is half full, post it to the laboratory for analysis and our FACTS qualified advisors then interpret the results and create a tailored fertiliser plan, usually within around ten working days.
When is the best time to take a soil sample?
The best time depends on what you are testing for, although nutrient samples are usually taken in autumn or early spring, pH and salinity can be checked whenever the ground is not frozen and suspected contamination should be sampled as soon as it is identified.
