Product Detail

Kurtail Lawn is a new product in our Kurtail range that combines four active ingredients for maximum efficiency in treating horsetail. It will also treat a variety of weed species in turf including yarrow, self-heal, buttercup, white clover, daisy, deadnettle, speedwell, Shepherd's Purse and Field Forget-me-not.

Application rates:

75ml in 10L water to cover 100m2 in a handheld sprayer.

Treats tough weeds in lawns and managed amenity turf

Key points:

  • Four active ingredients: 70g/L 2,4-D, 70g/L MCPA, 42g/L MCPP-P, 20g/L Dicamba
  • Treats horsetail, yarrow, buttercup, self-heal, daisy, white clover and dandelion
  • Best results when applied once a year during active growth (March to September)
  • Does not contain glyphosate
  • Do not treat new lawns until established for 6 months

Hard water effect on horsetail control:

The effectiveness of many weedkillers can be reduced when ingredients become bound by hard water minerals. You can reduce this and maximise results on marestail by adding KPlus+ to the spray tank.

Recommended PPE as per the MSDS: protective clothing (coverall), protective gloves, eye/face protection, respiratory protection

* Always follow the Usage guide and Aftercare advice

Active ingredients: 70g/L 2,4-D, 70g/L MCPA, 42g/L MCPP-P, 20g/L Dicamba

Application notes and guidance:

  • Do not cut grass for 7 days before application
  • Rain within 12 hours of spraying may affect results
  • After applying Kurtail Lawn, leave 7 to 10 days before cutting grass
  • Areas treated with Kurtail Lawn may be re-seeded after 6 to 8 weeks
  • Horsetail is often called Marestail, but this more accurately refers to an aquatic weed (Hippuris vulgaris). The correct Latin name for horsetail is Equisetum arvense. Kurtail Lawn is not approved for aquatic use.
  • Horsetail has a deep and vigorous root system, which is why it can regenerate after treatment. Digging or rotavating only spreads the problem. Contact us if you intend to build over treated areas, for example tarmac drives.
  • It is preferable to allow horsetail to wither and die naturally before cutting or removing it. If this is not possible, wait at least 3 weeks before removing. Any new horsetail growth after treatment will need re-spraying.
  • Do not spray if rainfall is due within 3 hours. A 24-hour dry window gives the best results.
  • Horsetail is best sprayed when it is 6 to 8 inches tall (15 to 20cm), not when it first emerges.
  • Non-tallow amine formulation
  • Please read the label before use
  • Retreatment is often needed as separate root fragments emerge over time and reach the spraying height (6 to 8 inches)

What is Kurtail Lawn Non Professional Selective Weedkiller ‚ ProGreen used for?

Kurtail Lawn is a new non-pro selective herbicide for horsetail and broad-leaved weeds in lawns and amenity turf. From the UK’s No.1 marestail control range.

How should I use Kurtail Lawn Non Professional Selective Weedkiller ‚ ProGreen?

Kurtail Lawn Non Professional Selective Weedkiller ‚ ProGreen should be used in line with the instructions supplied to ensure it performs as intended.

When is the best time to apply herbicide to horsetail?

Late spring or early summer when the plant is actively
growing. This allows the herbicide to translocate to the rhizomes.

Will mowing help with horsetail control?

Mowing alone will not control horsetail. It only removes top
growth, and the plant regrows from its rhizomes. Repeated mowing can weaken the plant over time when used alongside other control methods.

Is horsetail a weed?

Horsetail is considered a weed, although it has historic
medicinal uses and is used in some organic fertilisers.
