Selective control of Germander speedwell (Veronica chamaedrys) in lawns is very difficult. The active ingredients that are likely to give best control are clopyralid and fluroxypyr with some effect from florasulam, mecaprop and MCPA.

Progreen have a range of selective weedkillers that contain these active ingredients such as Praxys (covering 12.5ac) and Holster (covering 2.5ac), that will enable you to control the weed without harming your grass.

Control of Germander speedwell can be greatly improved with the addition of an adjuvant to improve the herbicide effect. Our preferred product is Solar Plus. Although this is successful, as ornamental grasses can be quite delicate, we would always recommend treating a small test area to establish adequate crop safety.
