How to use a knapsack sprayer

Knapsack sprayers, sometimes known as backpack sprayers, are a type of sprayer that are operated by one user who carries the sprayer on their back. These sprayers are often used for applying herbicides, liquid fertilisers and even fungicides. Knapsack sprayers are ideal if you are wanting to treat a small - medium sized area and are even great for spot spraying a specific area.

Using a knapsack sprayer

  1. To begin with, ensure you are wearing the correct PPE to be dealing with the products you are wanting to apply
  2. Calibrate the sprayer to the required dosage
  3. After reading the manufacturer's guidance on the product label, fill the knapsack sprayer with the required amount of water you need
  4. Using your chemical measuring jug, measure out the correct quantity of product you are needing. This quantity should be specified on the product label
  5. Pour in your correctly measured chemical in to the sprayer with the water
  6. Triple rinse the measuring jug to make sure that this is clean and free of any product residues
  7. Agitate the sprayer to mix in the product with the water
  8. Once all of these steps have been followed you are ready to spray
