Q. When should I fertilise horse paddocks?
A. Fertilising is essential for making sure that a horse is getting all of the nutrients it needs from the grass it is grazing. At ProGreen, we provide recommended treatment plans in the product descriptions of some of our Amvista fertilisers. An example of a plan is for our Amvista Tiger Boost you would need to apply 2 bags per acre from mid-March to mid-May, 2 bags per acre from mid-May to mid-June and 1 bag per acre in mid-September.
Q. Is it safe to fertilise a paddock with horses?
A. You are able to fertilise paddocks that usually have horses grazing on it, however it is important that you remove the horses from the treated field for 14 days or until the fertiliser prills have fully dissolved into the soil before you reintroduce them to the field.
