- Apply a balanced summer fertiliser
Trees, shrubs and hedges
- Remove fading flowers from roses, lilacs and rhododendrons
- Finish pruning spring-flowering shrubs
Beds and borders
- Tidy and cut back spring-flowering perennials
- Deadhead faded flowers
- Start planting summer bedding plants and water them regularly
- Sow plants such as pansies to provide winter/spring colour
Wall plants
- Continue training plants to grow in the right direction
