Rodent Management Course Update

Rodent Management Course Update

Since 2015 there has been a layer of stewardship required for anyone purchasing or using rodent baits. Due to recent changes to the CRRU's (Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use) guidance on training, a new course called Rodent Management has been released. Today we try to answer the questions that many are asking, such as; “what do these changes involve?” and “how will the updates affect me?”

What are the changes to purchasing professional rodenticides and how will this affect me?

In order to comply with the new updates that CRRU have put in place, the LANTRA online training courses have now been removed from sale and replaced with an updated training syllabus and exam.

From 1st Sept, anyone wanting to purchase professional rodenticides will have to complete and pass a level 2 qualification in Rodent Management.

NB:  If you already hold a certificate in rodent control or have completed the course we previously sold, these will remain valid until 2026.

How do I take the Rodent Management Course and what is covered?

At ProGreen, we are now offering the new level 2 Rodent Management course and assessment online for those who wish to gain this qualification. The training is self-paced and can be accessed as often as necessary – it takes an average of 4-6 hours to complete, which will then be followed by a 1 hour online monitored exam consisting of 40 multiple choice questions. The exam will only be activated once you have ticked a box to say that you are happy to continue and you will then have 72 hours to complete the exam, but only one attempt is permitted (resits can be purchased separately if required).

The new Rodent Management course covers the following topics:

  • Rodent management and the law
  • Target pest species and non-target species
  • Evidence of rodents and site surveys
  • Evaluate control options and rodent destruction
  • Control programmes
  • Safe storage and transport of biocides
  • Disposal of biocides and containers
  • Record keeping

If you require any more information regarding the update of the rodent control qualifications or how the training and assessment process is carried out, contact out training team on 01778 394052 or send an enquiry to [email protected].
