BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection (Amenity Horticulture) - Invasive & Injurious Weeds
ProGreen are again able to offer intensive training for the Certificate in Crop Protection (Amenity) which is a legal requirement for:
- Contractors and distributors who sell or give advice on pesticides
- Pesticide manufacturers and suppliers
- Consultants, agents, managers, specifiers and local authority managers who are involved in pesticide sales or advice
This BASIS course includes the skill module: Invasive & Injurious Weeds, which is in great demand due to the increasing awareness and fear of invasive weed species such as Japanese knotweed (JKW) and Giant Hogweed. Other skill modules are available which can be added at a later date, e.g. sports turf
Exams are officiated by BASIS examiners and include: Pest & Disease ID, written examination (multiple choice & situation) plus oral exams (Viva)
Full course is split into easily digestible modules followed by mock exams and revision sessions - see below for more information

- Recognition, Biology and Control of Weeds
- Recognition, Biology and Control of Pests
- Recognition, Biology and Control of Diseases
- Composition, Activity and Persistence of Pesticides
- Application of Pesticides
- Safe Use, Handling, Transport and Storage of Pesticides

Entry requirements:
Candidates must have previous satisfactory training or some practical experience prior to entering the BASIS (FSTS) examination - if you are unsure, please contact us or the BASIS office.
