What pesticide training courses are available?

They are suitable for businesses and individuals who wish to spray professional pesticides or use pesticides on their own land.

What do they cover?

PA1: The PA1 Foundation Theory Module covers basic legislation for pesticides. This must be passed before you can take any other PA units.

PA2: A PA2 course is required to operate mounted or trailed boom sprayers.

PA4: The PA4 course teaches how to responsibly apply slug pellets.

PA5: PA5 courses are suitable for boat-mounted spraying on water.

PA6: PA6 courses teach how to apply pesticides using a hand-held lance or knapsack applicator. 

As well as the theory and know-how, courses may include practical application modules such as knapsack spraying (PA6) and boom spraying (PA2).

Which course is right for me?

A pesticide Certificate of Competence requires all users to complete a PA1, followed by their unit of choice relating to specific equipment types: 

• PA1+PA6a/aw = Handheld application (knapsacks)
• PA1+PA2a = Vehicle-mounted application (quad bike, tractor)
• PA1 + PA5 = Boat-mounted spraying

Where are you based?
Depending on the course, these can be offered remotely or at our Orton Southgate centre in Peterborough.  

What’s the duration of the courses?
The duration of the courses varies, typically ranging from 1 to 2 days. 

Do you offer pesticide training courses for groups?
Yes - we offer training for individuals and groups at special rates. With our pesticide training for groups, we’ll send a highly-qualified professional to conduct the course at a location of your choice in the UK. A minimum of four participants is required. 

Are the assessments completed at the same time as the training?
Please note that pesticide application assessments will be completed on a different day from the training.
