Helping You Through Financially Difficult Times

Helping You Through Financially Difficult Times

During these current financially difficult times, we recognise that certain things will take priority, which is why we thought we would put together a list of small autumn maintenance tasks that are best kept on top of to avoid larger and more costly tasks in future. Here are the most essential autumn maintenance tasks that should be considered.

Hard Surface Cleaning

Keeping on top of cleaning hard surfaces such as patios and paving is extremely important at this time of year as the cooler, wetter weather is ideal for moss and algae growth. Algae and moss can cause these surfaces to become slippery and end up making them hazardous. We carry many hard surface cleaning products, however MAC Hi Power is ideal if you are on a budget. It is available in small pack sizes but due to the concentration it is still enough to treat large areas.

MAC Hi Power Key Benefits:

  • Available in 1L and 5L pack sizes
  • Removes biofilms such as algae and mould from hard surfaces
  • Provides reliable biocidal cleaning results

Weed Control

With the mild weather you are likely still seeing weeds growing, if this is the case you can control them using a glyphosate weed killer before winter arrives. Only a very small amount of herbicide is required for spot treatments and so the smaller pack sizes are well suited to all but the largest projects. Gallup Home and Garden 1L which, like MAC Hi Power, is still a professional strength product is able to treat up to 1500m2.

Gallup Home and Garden Key Benefits:

  • Professional strength glyphosate with a domestic use label
  • Handy 1L pack size yet covers over 1500m2
  • Kills weeds down to the roots providing total control

Think you might need a larger pack size? See all of the glyphosate weed killers we have to offer.

Fertilising

Even though we are now in autumn, fertilising both your lawn and certain plants is still an important task. It provides plants with essential nutrients that they will need to survive the high stress conditions that the shorter, wetter and colder days bring.

When it comes to fertilising your lawn at this time of year it is essential that you use an autumn/winter fertiliser with an appropriate balance of NPK, such as our Amvista G9. The amount of each element in the fertiliser you are using needs careful consideration. For example,  high levels of nitrogen (which is a much more important element in spring/summer fertilisers) at this time of year can actually be damaging for your lawn as it will encourage lush soft growth which is much more vulnerable to frosts damage and disease infection.

Amvista G9 Key Benefits:

  • Important low-nitrogen feed for autumn
  • Increased levels of potassium to aid plant health and water regulation
  • Encourages root growth to help turf capture nutrients better and help them to cope with weather extremes

Hardy plants that are suitable to be outside at this time of year also need a bit of TLC to help them survive the winter. Arbor Gold is an excellent, balanced granular fertiliser and is perfect for the job.

Arbor Gold Key Benefits:

  • Slow release fertiliser - releases nutrients over the course of a few months supporting healthy growth
  • Available in both 1kg and 5kg pack sizes
  • Supplies vital trace elements protecting against key nutrient deficiencies

Equipment Maintenance

Servicing equipment, such as knapsacks, during quite periods is a great way of extending its life and saving money. Small repairs as they are needed, instead of running equipment until it needs replacing, is far more cost effective and can prevent even more costly downtime during the peak seasons if a crucial piece of kit fails. We offer a wide range of service and maintenance packs for a variety of branded knapsacks to help you repair an issue that you may be having – for more information on servicing equipment, take a look at our article here.
